"Gele" is a Yoruba word for "woman" head wrap. Gele comes in different fabrics such as brocade, damask, Aso oke and regular ankara fabric. It is a stiff fabric but flexible to use. In the Western Region of Nigeria, women can often be seen in their traditional attire of "Buba", an airy type blouse with long sleeve, and "Iro" the wrapper that's tied on top of the buba. The Gele is mostly seen at events such as weddings , funerals , and any cultural event
